Amajimbos hoping to break Moroccan hearts

Just eight teams are left standing in the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, with Burkina Faso, Zambia, Morocco and South Africa battling it out for a place in the semi-finals on Thursday, April 10.


The first quarter-final (kick-off at 6pm CAT) sees Burkina Faso take on Zambia at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.


The Little Stallions won Group B and they beat South Africa 2-0 on April 6 to maintain their perfect start at the tournament, becoming the only country to collect nine points from their opening three matches.


The Junior Copper Bullets finished runners-up in Group A, level with Morocco on seven points after running out 2-1 victors over Uganda on April 6 to remain unbeaten.


The second quarter-final (kick-off at 9pm CAT) pits host nation Morocco against South Africa at the El Bachir Stadium in Mohammedia.


The Atlas Lions, who were losing finalists at the 2023 edition, pipped Zambia to top spot in their group on goal difference as they dispatched Tanzania 3-0 on April 6.


Amajimbos tasted defeat for the first time at the hands of Burkina Faso to finish five points behind the West Africans in second place, with Egypt having done them a favour by triumphing 2-1 against Cameroon.


Thursday’s fixtures:


18h00: Burkina Faso v Zambia


21h00: Morocco v South Africa
