It’s been reported that Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana reacted well to being dropped by Ruben Amorim before the Red Devil’s 4-1 defeat against Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday night.

In what was news that made headlines in English football this weekend, Onana was left out of United’s squad that faced Newcastle, following the Cameroonian’s mistaken laden performance against Lyon in the Europa league last Thursday.

With Altay Bayındır stepping in for Onana, Athletic journalist David Ornstein revealed that Amorim wanted to take the pressure off his first-choice goalkeeper.

“It was accepted professionally by Onana,” Ornstein said, as per Give Me Sport.

“Amorim wanted to take him out of the firing line, his performances, his comments before the Lyon tie, the very distressing mugging suffered by his wife recently in the local area.

“And this is something he was informed about on Saturday yesterday, so he would have known it before the stories broke Onana.”
