Pitso Mosimane has addressed rumours that he is set to be the next head coach of Orlando Pirates following the imminent departure of Jose Riveiro at the end of the season.

The South African coach dismissed speculation that he’s joining the Soweto team. The former Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns coach has set the record straight.

“I’ve seen it [speculation]. Nobody has spoken to me. So, we can’t be talking about nothing,” he said according to The South African.

“We will see. At the moment this badge means a lot to me, more than any other badge,” he added, speaking about his youth football venture.

Though currently without a club after a salary dispute with Esteghlal FC, Mosimane remains active, focusing on his youth football project in South Africa to develop future talent.

“I’m home, yes, but it depends. It must be the right project, it must be the right time,” Mosimane said when asked about returning to the PSL.

“Let me build this legacy, because once I stop coaching people will forget about the trophies.”

“Look how busy I am, today I’m here, [and] I’m going to another school. I was launching one in Rustenburg three days back, I’m so busy, it’s not funny.

“I’m not even seeing the vacancy of not being on the pitch. I’m on the pitch with the coaches, I’m watching them, are they doing the right thing.”

Although a coaching position at Orlando Pirates appears improbable in the near future, Pitso Mosimane remains open to resuming his managerial career when the right opportunity presents itself.
