Nigeria will begin their quest for a record eighth U-20 Africa Cup of Nations title when the action in Group B kicks off on Thursday, May 1.
The Flying Eagles, who bowed out in the semi-finals to Gambia two years ago, get their campaign underway against Tunisia at the 30 June Stadium.
Nigeria won the last of their seven crowns in 2015, while the Eagles of Carthage have yet to conquer Africa, although they did reach the final back in 1985 and lost to champions Senegal at the penultimate stage in 2023.
Later on in the evening, Morocco will look to make a positive start when they take on Kenya at the same venue in Cairo.
The Atlas Lions haven’t had much success on the continent since winning their solitary title in 1997 and failed to even qualify for the tournament in eight of the last nine editions, including in 2023.
The Rising Stars are making their U-20 AFCON debut after going unbeaten in the qualifiers until they lost to neighbours Tanzania in the final.
