Morocco and Nigeria got off to a positive start at the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations after beating Tunisia and Kenya respectively on Thursday, May 1.
Auwal Ibrahim scored the only goal of the game as Nigeria edged Tunisia 1-0 at the 30 June Stadium in the early kick-off.
The Flying Eagles broke the deadlock in the 38th minute and they held on to claim all three points which saw them go second in Group B.
Later on in the evening at the same venue in Cairo, Morocco survived an early scare to emerge 3-2 victors against Kenya.
The Future Stars hit the front through Lawrence Ouma after just 16 minutes, but a brace from Mohamed Zabiri (45+3′, 55′) swung the contest in the Atlas Lions’ favour.
Hassan Beja thought he had rescued a point for the East Africans on 71 minutes, only for Reda Laalaoui to complete the comeback win seven minutes later and take Zakaria Aboub’s side top of the group on goals scored.
