Stalemates dominate Friday’s AFCON U20 fixture list

With the Under 20 Africa Cup of Nations in full swing, here’s a look at Friday’s set of results in Group C.


To begin with, Senegal and Central African Republic played to 1-1 draw in their opening Group C assignment at the New Suez Stadium. Senegal dominated large parts of the encounter and often starved CAR of the ball.


Les Lions de la Teranga took the lead courtesy of a strike by Ibrahima Thiam moments after break, however, Pengazonia levelled matters for his nation in the 74th minute.


In the adjacent fixture, DR Congo and Ghana jotted down a 1-1 stalemate at the same grounds.


Samuel Ntanda-Lukisa broke the deadlock in the 16th minute for DR Congo, a goal that shocked Ghana who looked assured on the ball early on. Not holding back, Ghana equalized in the 24th minute as Aziz Musibau opened his tournament account.
