Defending champions Senegal and Ghana progressed to the 2025 CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) quarter-finals following Thursday’s action.

Goals from Ibrahima Dieng and Cheikh Tidiane Thiam earned Senegal’s Young Lions of Teranga a 2-0 win over DR Congo in a Group C match at the Suez Stadium in Egypt.

Therefore, Senegal advanced to the quarter-finals as Group C runners-up and they will take on record seven-time champions Nigeria at the Suez Stadium on May 12.

Congo’s Small Leopards also booked their place in the quarter-finals as one of the three best third-placed teams and they are set to face Group A winners at Suez Stadium on May 12.

Meanwhile, Joseph Opoku’s 84th-minute goal earned Ghana a 1-0 win over an eliminated Central African Republic (CAR) side in another Group C match at the Suez Stadium.

As a result, the Black Satellites of Ghana finished at the top of Group C standings and they will lock horns with the 3rd-placed team from either Group A or Group B at the Suez Stadium on May 12.
