Liverpool and Egypt winger Mohamed Salah has the opportunity to make history for the second time this season and draw level with, if not break the Premier League record for assists in a single season.
He currently sits on 18 assists this season, two assists away from equalling the Premier League record of 20 set by Thierry Henry in the 2002/03 season and matched by Kevin De Bruyne in the 2019/20 season.
Salah has already made history this season, surpassing Henry for the most goal involvements in a 38-game Premier League season with 45, one more than Henry’s 44, and sits fifth all-time in goal contributions in the league with 270 goals and assists in 294 appearances
Affectionately dubbed “The Egyptian King” by Liverpool fans, Salah has been instrumental in Liverpool’s title win, and is also Golden Boot front runner with 28 goals for Liverpool this campaign, five more than next-best Alexander Isak.
His contributions in this campaign have seen him rise to fifth on the all time goalscorers list with 185 goals, two behind Andrew Cole, and 10th all time in assists with 87, two behind James Milner. He is the only African player to be inside the top 10 all time in each category.
Salah could not manage an assist for The Reds in their 2-2 draw with second-place Arsenal at the weekend, leaving him with opportunities against Brighton on Monday and Crystal Palace on the final day of the season to equal or break the record.
The Egyptian national side captain recently penned a new two year deal, keeping him at Liverpool until the end of the 2026/27 campaign.
