Makgopa and Pirates pen new deal

Orlando Pirates striker Evidence Makgopa has agreed to a new long-term deal with the club.

SABC Sport reported on Tuesday that Makgopa had put pen to paper, but the club has yet to announce the new deal.

Makgopa has bagged 10 goals for the Buccaneers this season including five goals in 19 Betway Premiership appearances and two goals in four Nedbank cup appearances,

The 24-year-old netted twice in back-to-back Soweto derbies, including Pirates’ only goal against Kaizer Chiefs in their Nedbank Cup final loss at the weekend.

Makgopa joined the Soweto giants from Baroka FC in his home province of Limpopo at the conclusion of the 2022/23 season. Since then, he has won three MTN 8 titles and two Nedbank Cup titles.

His size and presence up front could prove crucial in Pirates’ effort to end their 12-year wait for a 10th PSL title.
