The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the match venues for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) which will take place in Morocco from 5 to 26 July.
Together with the Morocco Local Organising Committee, CAF revealed the six stadiums that will be used for the tournament.
They are the Olympic Stadium in Rabat, Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Père Jégo Stadium in Casablanca, El Bachir Stadium in Mohammédia, Honor Stadium in Oujda, and the Berkane Stadium in Berkane.
All stadiums to be used in the competition have played host to international competition in some form or another, aside from the brand new Olympic Stadium and the Père Jégo Stadium.
The Olympic Stadium has a capacity of 21 000 and will also be used for the Men’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in December, which Morocco is also hosting.
Named after the former Raja Casablanca, Wydad AC and Moroccan national team coach, the Père Jégo Stadium has a capacity of 10 000.
The other stadiums have hosted either U17 AFCON fixtures earlier this year, CAF interclub competitions or the Moroccan national team.
This edition of WAFCON will be the third of four continental competitions hosted in Morocco this year with the country set to host the 2025 AFCON tournament in December, having already hosted the U17 AFCON from 31 March to 19 April and the Women’s Futsal AFCON which reached its conclusion in the same month.
