Bafana Bafana defender Siyabonga Ngezana has been named FCSB’s defender of the season.

The club made the announcement on X on Monday, with 96% of fans voting for Ngezana for the award.

The South African centre back was also named in the Romanian SuperLiga’s team of the season. He was one of six FCSB players to be named in the side.

Ngezana played an instrumental role in a successful season for FCSB, helping guide the side to their second successive league title and their 28th in total, as well as winning the Romanian SuperCup. Across all competitions, FCSB conceded 60 goals in 64 games thanks in no small part to Ngezana’s efforts.

The 27-year-old made the move to Bucharest at the start of the 2023/24 season from Kaizer Chiefs, where he had risen through the ranks from the youth academy.
