Despite their winless start to the PSL Promotion Playoff, Orbit College head coach Pogiso Makhoye has been content with his side’s performances thus far.
Orbit College have played two games in the tournament so far, both goalless draws against fellow Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric Stars and Betway Premiership outfit Cape Town City.
Speaking after his team’s encounter with City at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town on Saturday, Makhoye stated his side executed their plan well, preventing City from gaining the advantage at home.
“In the first half we didn’t create too many chances but I’m happy with the boys, they stuck to the plan. The plan was to frustrate them, making sure that they don’t get an early goal because we saw that they brought speed, they brought the young boys because of the game that we played on Wednesday,” said Makhoye.
The Orbit College head coach praised his side’s defensive effort, but emphasised their need to convert in front of goal if they are to achieve promotion to South Africa’s top tier.
“If you can check the stats also, we conceded only 19 goals in 30 games, so what we need to do is to work on sharpness especially in front of goal. I think we just need one win, especially one goal, I think it will change everything,” he said.
Orbit College will face Casric Stars again, this time away from home, at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in KwaMhlanga on Saturday before finishing their quest for promotion against Cape Town City at Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg on Wednesday 25 June.
