After missing out on the previous instalment of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana will look to go all the way in this year’s edition of the tournament which will be held in Morocco next month.

Ghana will make their 13th appearance at the popular competition and are yet to lift the coveted trophy.

The Black Queens of Ghana were WAFCON runner-up’s on three occasions, namely in 1998, 2002 and also in 2006. All of the above listed tournaments were held in Nigeria, all of which were won by the host nation.

Ghana last featured at the WAFCON in 2018, as they entered the competition as the hosting country. Pitted alongside Cameron, Mali and Algeria in Group A, the Black Queens ultimately failed to progress to the knockout rounds of the showpiece.

With the 2025 WAFCON set to kick-off on 5 July, Ghana have been drawn alongside defending Champions South Africa, Mali and Tanzania in Group C.

Also, the Black Queens will be guided by the experience of London City Lionesses attacker Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah, who previously represented England at Under 19 and Under 23 level.

Princella Adubea is also expected to play a major part in Ghana’s plans for the upcoming tournament, given her experience at WAFCON level.
