Ghana are edging closer to yet another FIFA World Cup appearance as they prepare to take on Comoros in their final Group I encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday night. Kick-off is at 9:00pm CAT.
Ghana all but secured their ticket to next year’s showpiece following their impressive 5-0 win over Central African Republic at the Ben M’Hamed El Abdi Stadium in Morocco last Wednesday.
As it stands, Ghana sits at the top of the pile with 22 points to their name, three points ahead of Madagascar. However, the Black Stars boast a superior goal difference to their latest competitors as they head into their final qualifier with eight goals to the good.
Comoros, who accumulated 15 points from nine matches played in Group I, suffered a 2-1 loss against Madagascar last time out.
The Coelacanths will go into their last game sitting in fourth place and share the same amount of points with Mali who are in third position.
With Ghana one foot in the keenly anticipated tournament, Ghana coach Otto Addo lauded the input of his experienced players that were called up to the latest squad.
“We just want to fulfil our expectations. I think the players are experienced enough,” Addo said ahead of their latest set of qualifiers.
“Surely, we also have some young players, but we also have some experienced players who will guide the young players.”
