The Football Association (FA) in England is reviewing claims that Burnley’s Hannibal Mejbri spat at Leeds fans during the clash between the two clubs on Saturday.

This is according to the BBC.

Lancashire Police stated they are aware of the alleged incident and are reportedly working with Burnley and are in the process of “establishing the facts”, the BBC states.

The FA is yet to launch a full investigation.

Burnley emerged as 2-0 victors at Turf Moor, with Mejbri coming on as a substitute in the 83rd minute.

The 22-year-old joined Burnley from Manchester United at the start of the 2024/25 season and has played in seven of the club’s eight Premier League games this season.

He has amassed 37 caps for Tunisia, having made his debut in 2021 at 18-years-old, and was an integral part of the nation’s successful FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
