Moroccan club Wydad AC have announced the signing of free agent and 2021 Champions League winner Hakim Ziyech.

The club announced the signing on social media on Thursday.

The Dutch-born Moroccan international rose to fame at Ajax before joining Chelsea at the start of the 2020/2021 season.

The Moroccan magician won the UEFA Champions League with the blues in his first season but left the London-based club to join Galatasaray on loan at the start of the 2023/24 season.

His transfer to the Turkish side was made permanent in July 2024. He spent eight months at the club before leaving for Qatar-based Al-Duhail SC in January 2025.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finalist was without a team to start the 2025/26 season, but has been snapped up by Wydad, who sit second in Morocco’s Botola Pro 1 with three wins and one draw from four league games.

The 32-year-old will also have the chance to snap up another continental title as Wydad feature in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

The winger has not represented Morocco since September 2024 and will be fighting for a place in the national team ahead of its appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
