Pirates & Gallants complete Carling Knockout Quarters

In what was an exciting round of fixtures in the quarter-finals of the Carling Knockout Cup this week, Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants joined Richards Bay and Golden Arrows in the semis of the showpiece.

Beginning in Soweto on Tuesday, Pirates bagged a 2-1 win against defending champions Magesi at the Orlando Stadium via efforts from Tshepang Moremi and Evidence Makgopa.

Makgopa sealed the result in the 88th minute, while Magesi grabbed a consolation effort deep into stoppage time with Lehlegonolo Mokone curling home a classy free-kick on the edge of the area.

Over in Bloemfontein, Marumo Gallants jotted down an emphatic 4-0 victory against Stellenbosch at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium on Wednesday night.

While the heavens opened up in Mangaung, Gallants were led by goals from Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo (2), Mpambaniso Monde and Edgar Manaka, with Stellenbosch firing blanks on away soil.
