Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah have been nominated for October’s Premier League Goal of the Month award.
Salah’s 89th minute goal in Liverpool’s 3-2 loss to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on 25 October earned a place on the short list.
Semenyo is up for the monthly award for his 78th minute strike against Fulham in Bournemouth’s 3-1 win at the Vitality Stadium on 3 October.
Salah’s goal came while Liverpool were 3-1 down in the closing stages. The Egyptian international received a cross from Dominik Szoboszlai and brought the ball down beautifully to set himself up for a half-volley, which he smashed into the top right corner.
The reigning PFA Players’ Player of the Year has managed four goals and two assists in 10 Premier League games this season.
Semenyo’s goal came as the Cherries were down 1-0 to the Cottagers. Semenyo attacked Timothy Castagne on the left side of the Fulham box. The Ghanaian danced past the defender along the baseline and squeezed the ball past goalkeeper Bernd Leno from an almost impossible angle, drawing his side level.
The 25-year-old would go on to have a hand in all of Bournemouth’s goals in their comeback win, providing an assist for Bournemouth to take the lead and scoring the final goal to put the game beyond reach in stoppage time.
The Ghanaian international has started the season hot for the Cherries, bagging six goals and three assists in 10 league games.
Also up for the award is his teammate Justin Kluivert for his goal in the same game, which Semenyo assisted. The other nominees include Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo, Burnley’s Loum Tchaouna and Zian Flemming, Newcastle United’s Nick Woltemade, and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Buendia.
