Al Ahly have set their sights on Ibrahim Diabate in a bid to solve the lack of goals coming from their strike-force this season.

The Red Eagles top scoring charts in the Egyptian Premier League with 20 goals from their opening 12 matches, but the strikers have only contributed five of those.

Nejc Gradisar has registered three goals from 10 games, while Mohamed Sherif is even less prolific after finding the back of the net twice in nine appearances.

The Cairo giants are looking to fill the void left by Wessam Abou Ali, who joined MLS outfit Columbus Crew in the off-season, and they’re reportedly identified their man.

Diabate is currently on the books of Swedish Allsvenskan side GAIS, where he impressed last term after scoring 18 goals in 32 outings across all competitions.

The Ivorian striker began his career with ASEC Mimosas before moving abroad in 2018 to sign for Real Mallorca, although he made just two appearances for the Spanish club.

He also had stints in Spain with Sevilla and Atletico Madrid’s reserve teams, and counts Vasteras amongst his former clubs.
