Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hurzeler insists that the club needs to help Carlos Baleba recover his best form.
While the Seagulls claimed a fine 2-1 win over Brentford last weekend, Cameroonian Baleba continued to underwhelm and was substituted at half time of the match at the AmEx Stadium.
The 21-year-old was one of the Premier League’s best central midfielders in 2024-25, but this season he has struggled to recapture that form.
However, Hurzeler has no intention of criticising Baleba and would rather create a positive environment in which the player can thrive.
“We need to help him; that is our responsibility. We all agree he is still a young player,” the Brighton boss told the BBC.
“We all have to give young players the chance to have a bad phase; that is normal. Stay calm, keep working hard and have a good environment around him. That’s what he has here, and we keep pushing him.”
Brighton next face a tricky match away to Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon.
