Salah reveals broken Slot relationship hints at January Liverpool exit

Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah has divulged that he no longer has a relationship with Liverpool FC’s under-pressure head coach, Arne Slot.

The world-acclaimed winger also claimed that he may not return to the English Premier League champions after the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

This comes after an out-of-form Salah was benched for the third successive match on Saturday as a struggling Liverpool side let a two-goal lead slip to draw 3-3 against Leeds United at Elland Road.

“Now I’m sitting on the bench and I don’t know why. It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. That is how I am feeling. I think it is very clear that someone wanted me to get all of the blame,” Salah told reporters.

“I got a lot of promises in the summer and so far I am in the bench for three games, so I can’t say they keep the promise. I said many times before that I had a good relationship with the manager and all of a sudden.

“We don’t have any relationship. I don’t know why, but it seems to me, how I see it, that someone doesn’t want me in the club,” the 33-year-old continued.

“In football you never know. I don’t accept this situation. I have done so much for this club. I don’t want to answer this question [about Saudi], because the club is going to take me to a different direction.”

Liverpool are set to take on Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield in a Premier League match on 13 December before Salah joins the Egypt camp ahead of the 2025 AFCON.

“Yesterday I said to [my parents], ‘Come to the Brighton game.’ I don’t know if I am going to play or not but I am going to enjoy it. In my head, I’m going to enjoy that game because I don’t know what is going to happen now,” he added.

‘I will be at Anfield to say goodbye to the fans and go the Africa cup. I don’t know what is going to happen when I am there.”

Salah, who has netted five goals and provided three assists in 21 matches for Liverpool this season, is contracted to Merseyside giants until June 2027 and it remains to be seen whether the club will sell him during the upcoming January transfer window.
