Ghana head coach Otto Addo has backed Antoine Semenyo to leave AFC Bournemouth ahead of the upcoming January transfer window.
Semenyo has been linked with English Premier League’s top clubs Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Liverpool FC amid his reported £65 million buyout clause in his contract.
The 25-year-old has been one of the standout attackers in the league since the start of last season, having netted 17 goals and provided eight assists in 51 matches for Bournemouth.
Addo, who turned out for Borussia Dortmund in the German Bundesliga during his playing days, believes Semenyo deserves to move to a bigger club.
“He’s done well, but with all due respect to Bournemouth, it’s natural for him to take the next step,” Addo told The Athletic.
“Whether it turns into winter or summer is another question, but it makes no difference to us. I look forward to showing the world even more, what he is capable of.”
Semenyo will not be travelling to Morocco for the December and January Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as Ghana failed to qualify for the tournament.
The dreadlocked player has netted three goals in 33 matches for the Black Stars so far.
