The Ugandan national team has already touched down in Morocco as the side begins its preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations in the North African country.

The Cranes are one of the first teams to arrive in the country ahead of the tournament, which begins on 21 December and will end on 18 January.

The team touched down in Casablanca on Tuesday to begin an 11-day training camp which will see it play two friendlies before the start of the tournament, though its opponents are yet to be announced.

The early arrival signals head Coach Paul Put’s intention to give his side the best possible start and advantage at the continental showpiece. The team’s focus for the camp will be on “fine-tuning physical conditioning, tactical organisation and squad cohesion,” according to CAF Online.

Uganda last appeared on the continental stage came in 2019 as the nation failed to qualify for the 2021 and 2023 editions.

The Cranes are in Group C where tough challenges await in the forms of Nigeria, Tanzania and Tunisia.

Despite being viewed as underdogs in their group, Uganda enters the fray with confidence after finishing second in its 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying group with six wins from 10 games.

The nation also managed a quarterfinal appearance on home soil at the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in August.
