Bidvest Wits

Nickname:
The Clever Boys
Founded:
1921

BidVest Wits have entered an exciting new era as owner Brian Joffe has invested heavily in the team.
They have lured coach Gavin Hunt from SuperSport United, where he won three league titles in succession between 2008 and 2010, and have made a number of top signings.
Previously known as Wits University, the club is the oldest currently competing in the PSL having been formed in 1921.
Nicknamed The Clever Boys, they have yet to win a league title, their last trophy success coming in 2010 when they lifted the Nedbank Cup.
Having been formed in 1921, they are the oldest top-flight side in the country and with an ambitious board and a beefed up squad, that long wait for a league title may be over soon.
Wits reached the quarterfinal of last season’s Telkom Knockout, but were beaten on penalties by Free State Stars.
