Berekum Chelsea enter the group phase of the African Champions League at the first time of asking after going through a very difficult in the knock out stage of the competition.
The Ghanaian club eliminated former champions Raja Casablanca of Morocco 5-3 on aggregate before going on to knock-out CotonSport of Cameroon, another experienced side in the competition.
The Ghanaians side, formed just 12 years ago, will face an even more challenging task when they face three former formidable champions.
The Blues have been drawn in Group B to play multiple former winners Al-Ahly, Zamalek and TP Mazembe of the DR Congo.
But the three sides, who have 15 titles between them, will find Chelsea a very difficult side to beat as they have a squad of experienced players and youngsters who have dominated the local scene.
The Blues rely on playmaker Charles Taylor, who won the title with Hearts of Oak in 2000, while young international striker Emmanuel Clottey who scored six times in the preliminary stages will pose a threat to any on their three Group B opponents.
Chelsea will boost their squad by including experienced players Baba Armando and Bismark Idan who have returned home after playing for clubs abroad.
