Wa All Stars

Wa All Stars are measured as one of the rising forces in the Ghana Premier League and their emergence in the elite division in 2007 has ensured the Upper West region had representatives in the top-flight for the first time in 17 years.

Bankrolled
by the current Ghana Federation President Kwesi Nyantakyi, the club was
formed in 2006 as a vehicle to provide Wa and its environs with a
Premiership team.

It
is an amalgam of former notable division clubs like Freedom Star,
Veterans and Wa United which represent the face of football in Wa, the
capital town of the Upper West Region of the West African country in the
nation’s league.

Previously
coached by Asante Kotoko boss Maxwell Konadu, the club has produced
some big name players including Sadat Bukari, David Addy, Philip
Boampong, Nathaniel Asamoah and ex-Black Stars player Julius Dery. Others include Daniel Bomfah, Kwame Nsor, Godfred Yeboah and Eric Sackey.

The squad is dominated by unknown faces with a bulk of them coming from the second-tier sides in the domestic league.

The biggest name that has been brought to augment the squad is former soccer reality silver-medallist Michael Gator.

Head
coach Nuru Ahmed will aim to consolidate their premiership status for
the club which boasts of a support base of some 30,000.
