Known as the ‘Wild Beasts’, Central African Republic have never qualified for either the FIFA World Cup or CAF Africa Cup of Nations.

Traditionally regarded as one of the weakest teams on the continent, CAR have enjoyed some moderate success in recent years.

They won the regional CEMAC Cup in 2009 and enjoyed notable wins over the likes of Algeria, Egypt and Botswana in AFCON and World Cup qualifiers thereafter, though they have yet to crack the nod for a major tournament.

They are coached by local Herve Lougoundji, who took over from Frenchman Jules Accorsi in 2012.
