The Central African Republic, much like their Group D counterparts Tanzania, are one of the weakest national teams on the continent and are highly unlikely to progress out of the group stages.

Still, despite their uncompetitive local leagues and poor quality of player they were able to recently win the 2009 CEMAC Cup. They won the 2009 CEMAC Cup by beating Equatorial Guinea in the final 3-0. Another notable victory in the cup was their 2-1 triumph over Gabon in the semi-finals.

In terms of Nations Cup experience, the Central African Republic has a tainted history having been disqualified twice during qualifying in 1974 and 1998. Besides from that the national team has never qualified for a Nations Cup and things are very unlikely to change any time soon.
