Angola, known by the nickname Palancas Negras (Sable Antelopes), will be making their second appearance at the African Nations Championship, having finished as runners-up to Tunisia on their debut in 2011. Angola defeated Swaziland and South Africa in the preliminaries to book their spot at Rwanda 2016. The Palancas Negras will be led by a combination of Jose Kilamba and Andre Makanga, following the suspension of head coach Romeu Filemon in the build-up to the tournament. They have also appeared in six Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and qualified for the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
