The Squirrels were present at both the last two editions of the Nations Cup, (where they on both occasions exited after the first round) and will thus be hoping to make it three in a row.

The draw in Angola 2010 was unkind on Benin as they were grouped with Egypt and Nigeria; their only point coming from a 2-2 draw with Mozambique.

Benin also played in the 2004 finals, the only other occasion in their history they made it to Africa’s show-piece.

It will be tough however for the team ranked 60th in the world – neither Rwanda nor Burundi will be walkovers, especially away from home, while the might of the Ivory Coast will likely be too much.

The west African side are devoid of any obvious big-name players – their most recognisable star being Razak Omotoyossi. The 24-year old Metz striker certainly marked himself out as one to watch during the Nations Cup finals in Angola and has already scored 16 goals in just 33 internationals, a very good record.
