Tournament Review:

Cape Verde’s second appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations was not as successful as their first in 2013.

Though the Blue Sharks went through their three group games undefeated, their trio of draws was not enough to secure qualification for the quarterfinals.

Rui Aguas’s side recorded stalemates against Tunisia (1-1), DR Congo and Cape Verde (both 0-0).

Heldon scored their only goal from the penalty spot in the match against the Carthage Eagles, and this lack of firepower upfront came back to haunt them, as they finished level on points with quarterfinal qualifiers DRC but were ranked lower due to scoring one less goal.
