Angola’s Atlético Petróleos de Luanda have been regular competitors in the Champions League and Confederation Cup in the 21st century, though their best performance in African club competition remains a runners-up finish in the 1997 CAF Cup.
The 15-time Angolan league champions were formed in 1980 and play their home matches at the 50,000-seater Estadio 11 de Novembre in Luanda, a venue for the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations.
Aside from their football team, Petro also cater for basketball, handball and roller hockey.
