The DR Congo are the Dark Horses of Group E and are in a good position to cause an upset, the national team should capitalize on the success of TP Mazembe in African club competition and use their success as motivation during the qualification process for the 2012 Nations Cup.

Twice winners of the Nations Cup and the first African team to qualify for a FIFA World Cup when they attended the 1974 event in Germany.

The DR Congo has a rich football history and need to use both TP Mazembe’s success and their victory in the African Championships of Nations as the platform on which to get back amongst the continents elite.

With a strong core of players from Mazembe and a host of others plying their trade in Europe the DR Congo will by no means be in Group E to make up the numbers and can qualify for their first nations cup in six years if they win all their home games and pick up a win or two on the road.

The team will gain much needed stability and it will help if they could appoint a head coach soon, as the post is currently unoccupied.
