Kenya will be appearing at the COSAFA Cup for the first time after receiving a special invitation as guest in Zambia in 2013.
They are one of two teams from east Africa, with Tanzania also set to appear at the COSAFA Cup Zambia 2013.
The current side is coached by the Algeria Adel Amrouche, with the last of their five appearances at the Africa Cup of Nations coming in 2004, They have never managed to get past the first round.
They have also perhaps not enjoyed as much success in their regional CECAFA tournament as they might have expected for a powerhouse nation from the region, having last tasted success in 2002.
They were beaten 2-1 by Uganda in the final of the last tournament played in 2012, a sign perhaps that they are improving.
They did also hold Nigeria to a 1-1 draw away from home in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers in March, the African champions needing a last minute equaliser to rescue a point.
