Mali will be making their maiden appearance at the African Nations Championship after failing to qualify for the inaugural event in Cote d'Ivoire in 2009.
The west African side faces a tough pool though having been drawn in Group C along with defending champions DR Congo, and the might of Cameroon and Cote d'Ivoire.
As much of the full Mali side is made up of European-based players, there will be a lot of new talent on display in Sudan, and they will start the tournament as underdogs in their pool.
Little will be expected of them, but if they can spring a surprise it would provide a major boost to the country's football.
