Black Leopards

Nickname:
Lidoda Duvha
Founded:
1983

Black Leopards managed to retain their Absa Premiership status in the final few weeks of last season having at one stage looked as though they were certainties for the bottom two positions.
As usual, there was uncertainty over the head coach role, with Zimbabwean Sunday Chidzambwa starting and finishing the season in the hot-seat, with Vladislav Heric handed the role in between.
The club had a fine run in the 2012 CAF Confederation Cup, making the play-off round before losing out to Sudanese side Al-Merreikh. That African adventure assisted their League form and gave valuable experience to the players.
They will start this 2012/13 season having lost chief goalscorer Kingston Nkhatha to Kaizer Chiefs, but they have replaced him with his young compatriot Brian Amidu, who joins from AmaKhosi without yet having kicked a ball in the PSL.
Otherwise, Leopards have been fairly active in the transfer market and look to have made goo improvements to their squad.
A fight for relegation will not be on the cards as far as management is concerned, with the club having targeted the top eight, but the reality is that they remain light on resources and will probably struggle again.
They will no doubt be hard to beat in Limpopo, but need to show more steel on the road, which they did in the latter half of the last campaign, chiefly due to their Confederation Cup experiences.
