Morocco would have fancied their chances of reaching the quarterfinals of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, but in the end could only manage one win from their three Group A matches and were consigned to a first round exit.
It all started swimmingly for Henri Michel's side as they dispatched Namibia 5-1 in their opener, a commanding performance that saw Soufiane Alloudi net a hat-trick, and Tarik Sektioui and Moncef Zerka score further goals.
The pivotal match in the group for the Moroccans was always going to be their meeting with Guinea, and unfortunately for them, they came up short. Guinea always looked in control and raced into a 2-0 lead, before Hicham Aboucherouane brought the north Africans back into it.
They feel further behind as Guinea netted again, before a late consolation from Abdeslam Ouaddou made the scoreline 3-2, which flattered the Moroccans slightly.
It meant they needed to beat hosts Ghana in their final game to have any chance of reaching the quarterfinals, but they fell short, going down 2-0 in what was a comfortable victory for the Black Stars.
