Morocco, known by the nickname Lions of the Atlas, will be making their second appearance at the African Nations Championship, having reached the quarterfinals on their debut in 2014. Morocco finished top of the Northern Zone in qualifying, going unbeaten in their four matches against Tunisia and Libya. The Lions of the Atlas will be led by coach Mohamed Fakhir. They have also appeared in 15 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, winning the continental prize in 1976, and qualified for four World Cups (with their last appearance in 1998).
