Known by the nickname ‘Mambas’, Mozambique have never appeared in a FIFA World Cup but have qualified for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations four times.

The Southern Africans participated in the tournament finals in 1986, 1996, 1998 and 2010, exiting in the first round on each occasion.

Their attempt to qualify for the 2013 AFCON ended in disappointment in the final round after they were beaten 4-2 on aggregate by Morocco, having won the first leg at home 2-0.

The Mambas are coached by local João Chissano, who has been in charge of the team since 2013.
