Tournament Review:

South Africa came into the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations full of confidence that they would be able to re-establish their reputation as one of the continent’s best teams.

Sadly, Bafana Bafana failed to live up to their billing and ended bottom of Group C after claiming just one point from their three matches.

Shakes Mashaba’s side showed great promise for an hour of their first game against Algeria, but their lack of ruthlessness in attack came back to haunt them as they crumbled to a 3-1 defeat.

A 1-1 draw against Senegal revived some hope, but a 2-1 loss against Ghana in their last game further underlined the fact that this team has much to learn before they can be considered AFCON contenders.
