Uganda have not reached the Africa Cup of Nations since a second-placed finish in 1978, this despite being something of a powerhouse in the East African region.

They have a promising squad under Scotsman Bobby Williamson, who has now been in the job since 2008 and is well-liked and respected by his players.

The Ugandans will be second favourites in this group, but might well run Angola close for top billing, especially if they get best use out of key men such as David Obua (Hearts, Scotland) and Ibrahim Sekagya (Red Bull Salzburg, Austria).

Most the Ugandans play out of their own country, largely on the African continent, which means there is good exposure to the differences in styles.

Form over the past 12 months before the start of qualifying was excellent, five five wins on the trot, and Uganda will certainly make travelling to Kampala a difficult proposition for visiting teams.
