The national football team of the Comoros islands between Mozambique and Northern Madagascar in the Indian Ocean have never qualified for either the FIFA World Cup or the CAF Africa Cup of Nations. In fact, Comoros only joined CAF in 2003 and FIFA in 2005, despite their football association being formed in 1979.

Comoros’ first matches with full FIFA recognition were Arab Cup qualifying matches at the end of 2006, including a 4-2 win over Djibouti that is considered the team’s biggest victory in their history. The islands’ national team is coached by local Ali Mbae Camara and they play their home games at Stade de Beaumer in Moroni.

The Comoros Premier League is the nation’s top flight football division. It was formed in 1979 and features the ten best teams in the country. The reigning champions are Etoile d’Or from Mirontsy, who won their first title in 2008.

Coin Nord and Etoile du Sud from Mitsamiouli and Foumboni respectively are the two most successful clubs in the history of the Comoros Premier League.
