SuperSport CEO Stan Matthews is eager to bring back league success to the Pretoria side, and is hoping the club will be in contention for the 2015/2016 Absa Premiership title with 10 games remaining.
In Gordon Igesund, SuperSport have one of the most successful coaches in the country with four league titles, at four different club’s to his name. The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns boss joined SuperSport in September 2014, leading the club to Telkom Knockout success later that year.
SuperSport finished last season in sixth spot, 28 points behind run-away leaders Kaizer Chiefs.
In an attempt to gain ground on those who finished above them, SuperSport boosted their squad with several top signings including Dove Wome (on a permanent deal from Mamelodi Sundowns), Michael Boxall (Wellington Phoenix), Isaka Aongor Cernak-Okanya (Central Coast Mariners), Grant Kekana (University of Pretoria) and Phumelele Bhengu (Thanda Royal Zulu).
